About The TW Team

Our rotating lineup of quizmasters have some questions for you.

We started out back in 2015 as a group of trivia-loving friends in Jacksonville, Florida. In the years since launching, we’ve become a global (mega)hit and a mainstay in the online trivia world, with regular fan meetups and live recordings! We’ve also added more hosts over the years to bring you a bigger and better variety of quiz styles.

Jonathan Oakes

Jonathan Oakes

He’s been called the Godfather of Trivia Podcasting, but Jonathan knows the real magic has always come from the community that grew out of a simple idea he shared with his best friend Chris. That community has become a family—and every single one of them can confirm his world-class ability to yank correct answers out of his…”Creative Backside” at the last possible second. It’s chaotic. It’s ridiculous. And it’s pure Jonathan.

Carmela Smith

Carmela Smith

The First Lady is a Jack of all trades and can learn how to do anything with the power of google and YouTube. You can find her in her native habitat either reading or doodling something. Carmela in five words: Geek. Gamer. Feminist. Slacker artist.

You can also hear her on the actual play RPG podcast Queen of Daggers, Heart of Fire and as the host of OMG’s FourPlay.

Ben Young

Mr. Literature himself…a process engineer by day, tabletop gamer by night. When he’s not getting his nails painted by his precocious daughter, he’s known to occasionally tap some mana for some MTG action. Ben is an unashamed wrestling fan, and stands ready to deliver some Sweet Chin Music to anyone who ain’t down with that.

Chris Hollister

Chris Hollister

Chris Hollister, goes by many names: friend, board gamer, comic book nerd. He is a lover of most things pop culture. If it was said in the TV show The West Wing, he can make it into a trivia answer. His favorite thing about helping Jonathan create Trivial Warfare is all the new friends that he has met through the show.

Zahkia Mendoza

Zahkia has enough energy to keep the Northeast power grid up and running. And luckily for us, she uses some of that energy for writing some of our most difficult quizzes.

She also does a killer Shaggy impression.

Erin Barclay

Nothing that Erin Barclay says on the podcast should be taken as legal advice. You’ve gotta pay up for that.

Erin has all the hockey questions you could ever want from a podcast and also hosts Orange Cat Trivia in the Richmond, Virginia area.

Nikki Bates

Nikki Bates

Nikki is our mom. Not literally, but if you see her at a convention and need some snacks or ibuprofen, she’s got you covered.

Nikki brings the laughs and represents the “non-U.S. Eastern” time zones of the world.

Kinda Nick, kinda AI

Nick Groves

Nick Groves (aka Isla Blake) is the host we all love to hate and hate to love.

He’s got measuring tape in every room of his house and runs District Trivia in the D.C. area. You can also hear him as the host of OMG’s Things That Are Blank.

Robear

Robear

Rob Everett—third of his name—rarely uses his “government name” in the trivia world. You can call him Robear. By day, he’s a project manager. By night, he commands the mic as a Sporcle Live pub trivia host and a Detroit-area game show host. By midnight, he’s in the booth as a corporate voiceover actor. The center of his world is his wife and daughters, for whom he would fight to the edge of the earth… right after he beats some video game boss or finishes one more anime episode.

And behind the scenes...

Kit Sekelsky

Kit Sekelsky

Kit is the one emailing you when you’re due up for a TW guest appearance.  From running the Trivial Warfare social media to scheduling recordings, if Jonathan’s too busy for it, it’s on Kit’s agenda!

You can find her at trivia conventions wearing one of her many bolo ties. And she also runs the postal-based trivia competition The Inkling.
